A natural stop-over

A wine producing village bordered to the south by the Canal du Midi, Cers is located 10 km from Béziers, 25 km from Agde, 8 km from the sea (Portiragnes-Plage) and 4 km from the airport of Béziers-Cap d'Agde . Historically, it is a crossroads and a stopping place on the Beziers  plain, demonstrated by the many prehistoric and ancient remains and artefacts to be found in the area. The streets of the city center draw a circle around the church. This form of "circum" may be the origin of the name of the village, although some believe it comes from the name of the Gallic god of the wind "Cercius". A few steps from here runs the Canal du Midi, classified as a a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1996. A great place for canal boating and  a wonderful stopping place in a very natural environment.

Market on Tuesday and Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.
