A town on the pilgrimage route to compostella

At 134 metres, this is the highest point of the territory of Béziers Méditerranée. As such it has always been a strategic position in the defence of  the city of Beziers. The fortifications can still be seen  today in the architecture of some houses. Traces of prehistoric settlements and Roman villas have also been renovated and can be visited. Agriculture has always been vital to the local community with wheat and cherry crops now largely replaced by the cultivation of vines shown by the many merchants, vast areas under cultivation and and the meeting house with its monumental façade dating from 1905 .
