An Oasis of greenery

This village has its origins in a colony and a Roman villa from the year 52 BC. Its strategic location close to Béziers and the presence of the river Orb that provides a fertile soil and lush green vegetation, are the two main assets of Lignan sur Orb. The Château de Lignan constituted the summer residence of the Bishops of Béziers in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. For the people of the Béziers, the village and especially the nearby island of Tabarka (parking  in town), have become favorite places for jogging or walking on Sunday. An exceptional site which was used to film a scene from " Le Petit Baigneur ", the famous French comedy with with Louis de Funès and Michel Galabru.
